Simon [#964] is approximately 11 years
old. It is believed that he has spent most of his life
in a cage. His front feet are flat-footed and the toes
are splayed, but that doesn’t prevent him from keeping
up with his other foster brothers and sister. Simon is
able to go for long walks and go up and down stairs.
Because he lived in a cage, at first he was terrified of
wide, open spaces. He felt most comfortable in the
recliner or cuddled up next to his foster pugs. Now he
walks anywhere in the house without fear. A sudden
unexpected noise, that doesn’t affect the other pugs,
will send him scampering in fear though and he will run
to his comfort zone, which is the recliner or the bed.
Simon has some hearing loss-he can hear sound, but he
doesn’t know which direction it is coming from. His
right eye has been injured sometime in his past and it
bulges out a little more than normal and he is blind in
that eye. The ophthalmologist has said that this is now
a “dead eye” and can be removed, but since it is not
bothering him, it isn’t necessary to do so. His left eye
is pigmented from untreated dry eye so he has limited
vision in that eye. Simon is on eye drops, which he
accepts without any problems. Simon loves to cuddle with
his foster mom and pugs. He lets out a sweet groan of
contentment when he gets settled in just the right spot,
which lets you know that he is happy. Simon is crate
trained and knows how to use the doggie door, but if he
isn’t let out often, he will go in the house. He sleeps
in bed every night with his foster parents and foster
siblings. One look at this sweet boy and you will fall
in love!
