Hey everyone! My name is Chloe (# 377) and I'm what they call a Pek-a-Pug (Pekinese Pug Mix). I am 2 years old, but I still have a lot of puppy left in me. I came to KPR because my previous owners could no longer take care of me. I love playing with my foster brother and sisters, and have plenty of energy to keep up. I am a little curious about cats, but for the most part, I like to save my energy to play with my fellow canines. Even though my foster family doesn't have any children, I have had a blast with the ones who have come over to visit. I walk well on a leash, but also love to run around in my fenced back yard. I love to run around and play, but I will also stop to chew on a toy every once and a while. I have to be on special medicine because of my seizure disorder, Other than that, I'm healthy! Please consider letting me be a part of your family!

This is Sullie (# 399). She is 4 years old, completely housebroken, spayed, gets along great with kids and other dogs and she has no known health issues. Her previous owner had her since she was three months old, but recently started his own business and was having to crate Sullie for 16+ hours a day. He knew it wasn't fair to her so he surrendered her to KPR. Sullie's foster family fell in love with her and adopted her. Sullie loves to play fetch with stuffed toys, but hates rain and snow.

Roxie (#184) was adopted in spring 2007 by a very loving older couple. The husband passed away and Roxie was wonderful company for the wife. When the her owner had to move to California, Roxie was surrendered back to rescue. The good news is that one of the surrendering owner's friends who knew and loves Roxie adopted her. Roxie loves her new Mommy and her new canine bro Toby. She also had a good chance of seeing her other Mommy if she gets back to Kentucky for visits.

Lily loves to follow her humans will will even jump into the shower with you! She is great on a leash and loves to play outside. Lily is completely housebroken and would do well with a family where she can thrive on attention and love.

Johnny & Yoko's Flickr Page!

Johnny (#463) and Yoko (#464) are a bonded pair. Pugs come in all sorts of different shapes and sizes and Johnny is no exception. Johnny is a 4-5 year old pug that is a little larger than a normal pug in stance and has a bit of a longer snout. He is a big teddy bear who wants all the love you can give him plus more. Johnny gets along well with other dogs and children, however we do not recommend children under five due to his size and excitement. Since Johnny can jump over baby gates, he is crated when his foster family is away. Johnny loves to sleep in foster family's bed and sleeps upside down at times.

Yoko is approximately 6 years old and is a Pug / Chihuahua mix, more affectionately known as the "chug". Her color is absolutely beautiful and she has the softest coat. Yoko loves to crawl up and sleep with you. She gets along with most dogs, especially Johnny, however she will occasionally have issues with other female dogs in the house. Most of the time you will find Yoko curled up on the couch napping, keeping to herself. Yoko is crate trained and can be crated with Johnny.

Hi, my name is Roxi! (# 426) I am a sweet, loving and energetic 10 week old puppy, that my foster mom calls a Diamond in the rough. I was was rescued about a month ago from a kill shelter by a kind volunteer of another rescue who contacted KPR about me. I have Demodex, but since I have been with my foster family it is clearing up nicely and I am growing new hair! I weigh just over 5 lbs and I love to play with my toys and eat. My foster mom, dad and sister all tell me I am just the cutest thing, and we all love cuddle time. I am working on my potty training, but I know I will get the hang of that soon!

Lucy (# 393) is a very special, loving little girl. She is estimated by the Vet to be 6 - 8 years old.  Like all puggies, she, of course, lives to make me happy and wants to be in my lap or right next to me at all times. When I come home from work, she is jumping and yipping to say hello and that she missed me. That is always followed by lots of kisses. What makes her so special is that she has no eyes. She was apparently born without her left eye and developed severe glaucoma and a growth on her right eye. Her former owner(s) apparently could not care for her and luckily Kentuckianna Pug Rescue found out about her, rescued her, and arranged for the vet care that she needed. Her vet determined that the best course of treatment was to remove her right eye as well. You would never know it! Within a few short hours she found her way around our house and yard and hasn't missed a beat. She gets along great with her foster brother Pug Pax. They just follow each other and me everywhere.

Lucy is housebroken with routine attention, schedule, and trips outside. She does great staying home with Pax while I go to work. They sleep side by side at night and eat together like they are at a buffet. Lucy just wants to be loved and to give love. She's only been around a 9 month old baby so I can't say how well she manages children. She loved him though. He liked to pull her ears and she just gave him a face full of kisses. She never once misbehaved or reacted. She is very sweet, very loving, and very very special!

We call Emma (#611) our “miracle bug.” She was on “death row” at a shelter when KPR President, Amy Carpenter rescued her. She had been returned to a shelter three times because of her high-energy. When we met her, it was love at first sight. Emma energetically bounded into our lives and stole our hearts. In just the short time we have had her, she has charmed her new pug brother, Sir Bozworth (age 6) and two pug sisters, Penny (age 11), and Zoe (age 4). Boz has attention-deficit disorder and loves all of her boundless energy. She will play with him non-stop until he’s had enough and goes and hides from her. Sir Boz will share anything with her, except his food. Penny lets Emma romp all over her and even bite her ears and tail. Zoe doesn’t quite know what to make of her because she was always the baby. We love to hold her and look into her little face. Her eyes shine with happiness and she brings such joy to our family.

Emma began limping badly this past weekend and we took her to the vet. We discovered that one of her rear legs is ˝ inch shorter than the others due to a previous knee injury. She may require surgery in the future. In the meantime, she isn’t letting that keep her down.

Welcome home, precious Emma! We love you unconditionally. No more “return to shelter” for you!

Gizmo (# 378) is a young (approx. 2 - 3 years old), action packed bundle of love! He spends his days playing with toys and other pugs, and taking naps! His favorite activities include: eating, giving kisses (big sloppy ones), playing with toys (he is not happy until the stuffing is gone from his stuffed toys), taking naps, getting his belly rubbed, and running around the yard like crazy!

Tootsie (# 525) is a 3 year old female puggie that has a real zest for life. She has lived outdoors for the past year or so. Her owners wanted her to have a better life so they surrendered her to the rescue. She lost one of her eyes earlier this year due to an accident. She is very tiny and petite weighing in at around 12 pounds. She is very loving and loves to sit by you. If you don't pay her attention when she feels she deserves it, she will talk to you about it. Tootsie gets along great with kids, but is very excitable, so would probably be best not to be around very small children, as she may jump up on them and accidentally knock them down. She loves everyone and she totally ignores my cat. She gets along great with her foster pug brothers and sister. She loves to play fetch and will do this for as long as someone will play with her. Tootsie's previous owner said she was not housebroken, but she has not had an accident in my house yet. If kept on a schedule she should be fine with patience and love.

Hi my name is Theo (# 605) and I'm 2-3 years old. My best friend and I were picked up by Animal Control and brought to the shelter. When my owners called the shelter they came to pick up my buddy, but left me there. But that's ok, because some nice people pulled me out of the shelter and here I am - ready for my new home. As you can see, I am very handsome. I am a laid back guy and I love to go on walks but I'm not too sure about a harness yet. I love to play tug of war with rope and fleece toys. When the other dogs don't want to play with me, I get my humans to play for a while. I'm learning that it is OK to be held, petted, and loved-on. I am a gentle guy so I would be good around children and other dogs. I just want to be loved and am looking to finally get settled so I can give unconditional love and show my family that I am the best.

Hi, my name is Jake (# 388) but sometimes they call me Jakie. I'm a full bred, pug-a-licious 7 yr. old fawn male. When I wrinkle my forehead a musical eighth note appears! I also sometimes get my upper lip hung-up on one of my teeth and make funny faces. I get along great with my foster Pug sister and cats don't exist even if they're sitting right in front of me. My foster mom say that I am polite to everyone. I am almost fully paper trained. I've been on medication that causes me to drink a lot and I only like to use clean, dry training pads. I prefer to go potty outside. I like to be with you all the time. I will sit on your lap if you help me get there and help me down. I'll lay on the floor and wait if you're cooking! I love to take walks but I'm only moderately active in the house. I have toys but they're not all that interesting. I like chewing on rawhide bones and I love any kind of treat. (Could you have guessed?). I liked to rub and to be rubbed and petted, but most of all I need a permanent someone to love me!

I require some medication to help me make tears and with the excessive pigmentation in my eyes. Also because of the pigmentation problems in my eyes, I move a little slower. Could I be the puggy for you?

Pudge (#343) is an approximately 8-9 year old male Fawn with one of the sweetest, most lovable dispositions you could ever imagine. Every time his foster mom looks at him she laughs because he's so cute. He is a bit on the hefty side, but that makes him more fun to snuggle. Pudge is not your athletic type of guy but he keeps up with his 6 month old foster brother pretty well. Pudge is crate and potty trained, but you have to let him know that it's time to go out otherwise he will just "hold it". Pudge doesn't like to be left alone so he would be perfect for a family with another dog or for someone who spend most of their time at home.

Tessa (# 394) will be 4 years old on July 4th and is in excellent health.  She grew up with a Jack Russell Terrier so she runs fast and is a pretty active. She is good with children and cats. Tessa is a little timid at first with other dogs. She loves to play with them but needs a little more work on socialization.  She is not fully house-broken yet but working on it!  Tessa is very quiet and gentle. She rarely woof's, never growls and doesn't snore very much!  She loves being next to you or on your lap and really loves those belly rubs!

She is your typical people-loving pug -- she loves all humans no matter what shape, size or age! Lucy is housetrained and sleeps in her crate at night. Lucy does require occasional eye drops for her dry eye but she is such a good girl and lets you put the drops in with no problem. Whoever adopts Lucy is sure to love her as much as her foster family does.

Hi my name is Boomer (# 415). My family gave me to the humane society, but I'm so happy that KPR came and bailed me out. I was kind of skinny at first but I have filled out just fine at my foster home. The calendar says I am 10 years old but I don't act a day over 6!! I am very playful and I get along well with my foster sister and brother. My foster sister chases the cat but I just sit back and watch. I am very healthy and active - I like to run in the back yard and play with the toys. I really like to play games with my foster Mom and her family. I go outside to do the important business and I try my best to follow the rules. The vet lady looked me over and says I'm in tip top shape (and I have a bright smile to boot!). I'm a very laid back and happy guy. I like to snooze on my Mom's bed and cuddle at night for TV time. I would make a great pet for just about anyone who likes pugs.

Sparky's Pals for Pugs

Camille Traina, Spanky
& Little Ollie

My name is Sparky (# 260) and I'm just about as cute as they come! I'm about 6 years old and everything a pug should be - cute, affectionate and gentle. I am a little guy, weighing about 17 pounds and like to use the doggie door at my foster mom's home. She's done a really good job in housetraining me! I was surrendered to KPR because the other pugs in my old home would pick on me. I like my foster brother, but not so much the other foster doggies that have come thru the home. My foster mom thinks I should be the only dog of the house.

When I came to KPR I had heartworms, but have underwent treatment and am now heartworm free! I do need drops because I have something they call dry eye. I have been brought current on shots, neutered and am microchipped. My foster mom says I sometimes have some difficulty in climbing stairs but I'll go wherever I have to just to be with you. I love stuffed toys, going on walks and taking drives.

Adopted - June, 2008

Bugsy (# 487) is a 3-4 year old male Pug/Boston Terrier Mix or a "Bug". Bugsy comes to KPR after his owners divorced. He has a beautiful brindle coat and a stub tail. Bugsy is housebroken and is mindful of his owner. He is crate trained and loves to sleep under the covers with his foster mom. Bugsy has shown some signs of aggression towards his foster brothers and sisters, so he will be placed in a home where he can be the king of the castle or with a submissive dog. Like most dogs, Bugsy likes to chase cats. He loves to play with his younger foster brother, however he can sometimes play a little rough.

Zoe (# 380) Hi! My name is Zoe and I'm known as a "Puggle". One of my parents was a pug and the other a beagle! I am 3 years old and haven't had much luck finding my forever home yet. I have lived with two families in my short life. I got sent away from my first home because my family thought I was too active (but I was just a puppy!...we're all active when we're young). The second family left me outdoors all year round where I had nobody to play with. I learned to make my toy ball my best friend and keep myself entertained. I enjoy my foster parents and foster pugs because we go out to play fetch. It's my favorite game! I play until I can't run anymore, but I just love it! We have cats in our foster home, but they don't bother me and I don't bother them. I would really love to go to an active family that could take me out to play ball, go for walks or even just to run and play in the yard! I get along fine with other dogs and love my human friends a lot!

Mr. Snuggles' Pals for Pugs!

Scott & Allison Shafer

Mr. Snuggles (# 374 ) is a fawn male between 7 - 8 years old. Snuggles is a very loveable friendly dog that needs a forever home. He had a rough life before making it to his foster family, but is doing well now. Snuggles can't see as well as he would like to right now due to discoloration of his pupils, but does great with what vision he has. His foster mom is treating him for a sinus infection. Snuggles has some scars on his fur near his tail due to scratching and having nobody around to take care of the problem for him, but he's thankful to be safe now and loved.

Snuggles loves to be with family, he loves kids, and plays with his foster pug brother. He is potty trained, and will use a crate with no problem. Snuggles is ready to fill your home with lots of pugs love. His foster mommy said whoever gets him will be smothered with kisses, and lots of affection.

LuLu's
Pals for Pugs!

Rich & Melinda McGee

Lulu (# 517) is a 15 month old precious puggy. She is very active and loves to play with other dogs and toys. She is housebroken, but will require some consistent reinforcement because of her young age. She seems curious about cats and will sometimes bark at them. She does well being baby-gated into a room while you are away from home. She would do best in a home with older children. Lulu's former owners tied a rubber band around her tail when she was a puppy, leaving her with a nub instead of a tail. She also lived all of her life up until now outside chained to a dog house and has delivered at least one, probably two litters of puppies. Other than needing eye drops for the next month, she is in excellent health.

Adopted - May, 2008

Annie (# 335) - AKA Princess Bella - is a fawn pug who came to KPR when she was approx. 14 weeks old. She is very playful and loves to cuddle next to you. She is very friendly with other dogs. Bella is very shy around new people and gets scared at any loud noises or people approaching her too fast. She needs a quite place to eat because she wont eat if there is any noise or people around (not including dogs). She is doing well going potty outside. She sleeps in a crate and does not have any accidents throughout the night. Very sweet little girl.

Adopted - May, 2008

Holly (# 486 ) is 3 years old and is a real gem. She is a very sweet and lovable pug that is completely house broken. Holly is crate trained and loves sleeping in bed with her 7 year old foster brother. She gets along great with other dogs and shows no food aggression. Holly is blind in one eye from a previous corneal ulcer surgery. Her eye looks absolutely normal and it doesn't slow her down one bit. Holly recently had surgery on her stenotic nares to improve her breathing and her foster mom has noticed a real change. This well mannered pug also knows how to sit, stay and lay down on command. We know that you will think Holly is as great as we do!

Meet Misty (# 503), Her owner passed away a few months ago. She went to a family member, who realized that they just didn't have the time to devote to her, so lucky for Misty, they contacted KPR. Misty is 3 years old and as sweet as they come. She weighs around 20 pound and loves everyone she meets. All she wants to do is be with you, following you or on your lap. She is a true velcro puggie. Misty does not care about other dogs, she is a "people pug". Misty is all up to date on all her shots and heartworm preventative and is ready to go to her forever home. Could you be that home?

Huey (# 396) and Baxter (# 397) are bonded pair of puggies, both 4 years old, looking for a high energy fun home. They aren't very interested in toys just play wrestling and following each other around. Baxter is really good, very sweet and loving. He likes to give kisses and is crate trained. Huey is also a sweet pug too, but very independent compared to Baxter. He has a lot of energy and needs to be in a home with other mates or kids. They absolutely love to play outside. Does this sound like your family?

Dahlia (# 367) is a super sweet bundle of love who was found as a stray. She is estimated to be 6-7 years old and has been the mother to several litters of puppies. Dahlia gets along great with other dogs and loves to cuddle, play with her toys (stuffed are her favorite), and she can even smile when she gets excited. She has been spoiled by her foster home and loves to find room under the covers to sleep - her other favorite activity is dinner time! She's a beautiful apricot color and rather petite. Currently, Dahlia is recovering from several internal parasites including a mild case of heartworms. During her exam by the vet, small masses were observed in her mammary glands, however they have been found to be harmless. You'll instantly fall in love with this precious bundle of joy - she just brings a smile to your face (and keeps your lap warm)!

Dahlia is currently undergoing treatments for heartworm. When her treatments are finished she will be heart worm free and only need to stay on preventative.

Meet Princess! (# 475)She is a 6 year old fawn female. Princess is very small for her age, but that doesn't stop her from doing what she wants. Princess is housebroken and crate trained. She sleeps in her crate at night and has free roam of the house during the day. Princess gets along well with other dogs and children. Gizmo loves to be near you and loves attention. She likes to lay on the couch and bed with you, but needs help getting onto the furniture; her foster mommy bought her some puppy steps and she uses them like a pro. Gizmo does fine on a leash, her current foster home has a fenced in yard that she really enjoys. Gizmo likes to chase after her younger foster brothers and sister when they get a little wild and play outside. She loves being the center of attention and will roll onto her back and expose her belly for you to rub for as long as you're willing.

Henry (#429) has the nickname of "O'Henry" from his foster mom as she is always saying "O'Henry you're so cute" or "O'Henry what did you do?" He is house trained and takes his responsibility of watch dog very seriously. Henry is well behaved and likes to play with stuffed toys. He actually likes to take the toys outside a pile them in a pyramid in the backyard. We think Henry is about 6 years old. He is your typical stubborn pug that walks very well on a leash. Henry is a very smart boy that has the softest fur. His foster mom says that he's squeezable like Charmin tissue!

Gracie (# 391) is a 1 old year old female pug who has had a rough start. She had been starved, beaten and had cigarette burns in her ears and on her chest when she came to KPR. A wonderful foster family has worked with her over the last month to help her forget all of her bad past. She has turned out to be a wonderful dog. Introducing Mason Lee (# 495) and Kula Mae (# 496), an 8 year old bonded pair. They are both very youthful in actions and looks. Mason totally adores Kula and is lost when she is not around. They are energetic, playful pugs but not out of control. They love to spend their days playing with each other and whatever toys they can get a hold of. Kula had her palate reduced last week and is doing beautifully. We were told by the previous owners that Kula suffers from allergy issues. The vet feels this could stem from the food they were eating. Currently, she exhibits no signs of allergies. Mason is a bit shy at first, but he warms up over a few days. Kula is the typical outgoing pug that never met a stranger! They have done fine with the other pugs in the current foster home. They are crate trained, and appear to be housebroken with minimal accidents since they came into foster care.

Kula has a previous history of allergic reactions to vaccines. She is current on her rabies and bordetella, but will need to be pre treated with benadryl and stay at a vet's office for a few hrs to be observed when she has the rest of her shots.

Mason is making a trip to the vet for his eyes as it appears he was an airborne allergy issue.

Prince (#489) is a sweet one and a half year old black pug. He is the darkest, tallest and longest pug they've ever seen. Despite weighing 21 pounds, he needs to gain a couple of pounds to be the perfect weight for his stature. Prince loves females and follows his foster mommy around all day. Prince is the sweetest little boy, and does pretty well with going outside to potty, although he's not a fan of this nasty Indiana weather, which discourages him a little, but then again who is? Prince likes to be near you at all times, and was a little unsure about sleeping in bed with his foster family, but once he realized it was okay he's loved it ever since. Being just a young puppy, Prince is shy around strangers, especially men. At his current foster home Prince isn't around kids at all, but we don't think it would be an issue. Prince gets along great with his foster brothers and sisters. He has the cutest little face, and has the sweetest shyest personality to match. Please open up your heart and home to this sweet little boy.

Adopted - April, 2008

Ollie (# 470) is the perfect gentleman and is estimated by the vet to be around 7 years old. He loves to snuggle and even gives "pug hugs" by standing on his back legs and putting his front ones around your neck. He loves to go "bye bye" in the car, walks well on a leash and likes his crate. He is very good with children of all ages and other dogs, listens well and is mostly potty trained (he has been caught "marking" a few times). He wants nothing more than someone to pal around with. He sits quietly at his foster mom's feet while she works or cooks and lays down on the couch in her lap while she watchs TV. He will actually fall asleep in your arms if you hold him like a baby! His only naughty habit is begging for people food. Ollie would make a wonderful pet for the person that didn't desire high maintenance or high energy. He is a sweetie!

Larry (# 362) is a fawn male who is approximately 4 ˝ years of age.  He was recently adopted, but due to no fault of his own, has been returned to KPR.  He has a perfect temperament and gets along with other dogs and children. Larry is house trained and loves to spend time out of doors with his humans.  He has grown accustomed to sleeping in bed with his foster parents and particularly likes the foot of the bed. When Larry is taken out on the town, he behaves as the perfect Gentleman. He is a bit underweight, but we are very confident that with his appetite, he will put on the pounds in a relatively short time. Larry does have some vision problems and is being treated by a specialist to address those concerns. According to the Vet, he will need to be on prescription eye medications for the remainder of his life.  Larry needs some stability in his life.  Could you be the perfect family for him?

Willie (# 397) is an adorable 2 ˝ year old male pug. Willie had a rough start to his little life spending his first two years in a puppy mill being bred to Beagles, then was purchased by a “clueless” couple who kept him outside with only a plastic carrier for shelter. When we went to pick him up from these people we were told he was completely unsocialized and scared of all people. Within 24 hours after being rescued this little guy showed us how wrong they were – he is the most loving affectionate pug ever! He adores our four other dogs and craves being with other canine companions. He is not used to strangers and will initially bark at them but we are confident that will change as he becomes socialized. Willie is crate trained and is in the process of being housetrained. He is neutered and has been given a clean bill of health. His former owners said that he sometimes had little fainting spells but we have not witnessed that at all. We are monitoring him for any sign of this behavior, possibly they should have let him LIVE INSIDE? He loves sitting in your lap by the fire, and loves to wrestle with our Labradane! He will make a wonderful companion for any family!

Rocky (# 185) is a 5 yr. old fawn color male weighing 23 lbs. He loves to play with his rope toy, and he is a very loving affectionate pug. He loves everyone but prefers men. He gets along with other dogs and leaves his foster parent's cats alone. He needs to be fed alone, he worries about other dogs trying to steal his food, so we feed him by himself to avoid any problems. He is potty trained but if you going to leave him alone he needs to be crated - he will mark to get your attention. Rocky loves to sleep in the bed with his foster mom and dad and he can give high fives when he get excited to see you. He will make a great dog for some lucky family!

Here is a pair of cuties that are ready to entertain you. Sonny (#481) and Cher (#482) are 1 year old and are completely bonded to each other – so much that they spend their waking hours romping and stomping with each other. One of their favorite activities is making laps around the furniture and playing tug of war. There’s never really a clear winner, but the entertainment is priceless. Like
