Buddy (#162) is an 8 year old male. He is laid-back and mellow, however, he maintains a playful side. He is partially deaf and mostly blind but he adjusts well to new surroundings. He is good with other dogs and cats, but usually just wants to be with humans. He is housebroken and only marked once since being in a new home. Buddy is very friendly and sweet and just wants to give and receive love.

Adopted - December, 2006

Chloe is a 2 year old pug.  She loves to play and gets along with other pugs.  She's housetrained and is just as sweet as can be.

Adopted - December, 2006

Jack (#173) is my name and I am 3 years old. My family said I had to leave because the kids were allergic to me. We were all very sad to part, but I don't want to make my family sick any more. So now I am a foster pug looking for a new forever home. I am up to date on all shots and neutered. My birthday is February 8, 2003. I understand sit, stay, and kennel up means hop in my crate for bed time. I was an only pet so having foster brothers is a bit strange, but I am doing well. I have a stuffed toy that I must keep with me. It is old and tatty, but I can't part with it.

Adopted - December, 2006

Kleo (#170) is a fawn female less than a 1 year old. She is doing good on using the potty outside.  She doesn't care much for the crate and would rather sleep in bed with her foster parents.  Kleo's hip was fractured when she was a baby and it has never healed, so she was only using it 20% and had to have surgery to correct the problem.

Adopted - December, 2006

Holly (#257) is approx. 3 years old and weighs 27 pounds. She has the softest fur, loves to play with other dogs (don't know about cats).  She is completely housebroken and loves to play with kids.  Sometimes she comes across as timid and skittish, but she warms up quickly!  She knows how to sit and is learning how to shake. You say let's go and she's ready for a walk or a car ride.  One of her favorite things is having her belly rubbed.

Adopted - December, 2006

Starlett (#144) is a beautiful fawn female whose past is a mystery. She was found wandering the streets and a kind person took her in. She is a real little cuddler and loves to lay on your bed. She also loves to play with her foster sister, Emma Grace. Star has a little bit of separation anxiety, but her foster Mom is hoping as time goes by, this will be less of a problem.

Adopted - December, 2006

Curley (#152) and Gizmo (#153) are a male and female bonded pair. Curley (photo on top) is a 5 year old male whose owner rescued him from a breeder who was going to have him put to sleep because of his eye. Curley had his eye removed when he was two weeks old. He is a big boy weighing around 27 pounds, but he is all muscle and does not need to lose weight. He loves everyone and is very friendly and gets along well with other dogs.

Gizmo is an approximately 9 year old female. She has a VERY womanly figure and MUST lose a few pounds. Gizmo is very loving and gets along with other dogs, but she does NOT do well with cats. Neither dogs have any issues that we are aware of and this was a very loving surrender due to life changes that their owner had. Anyone who adopts them will be very fortunate and be rewarded with lots of love and puggie kisses!!

Adopted - December, 2006

Roxanne (#166) is six months old and comes to KPR by way of an all breed rescue. Roxanne's special angel, whose name is Robin, pulled her from an animal shelter when her owner surrendered her due to her Demodex.

Adopted - December, 2006

Mack (#169) turns 2 years old in January.  His owner passed away and no one else could take care of him.  He has allergies and is on medication.  His favorite things are giving kisses and getting his belly rubbed. He loves to play and has lots of energy.

Adopted - December, 2006

Molly Sue (#179) is wonderful!! It didn't take very long at all for her tail to be up and wagging. She is very laid back and sweet. It appears that she is housebroken too, because she goes to the door. She is a plus size girl so she is going to put on a diet. She is used to eating anytime and was being given table scraps...so she is very cushy. She really is beautiful and has the most wonderfully precious under bite.  Molly Sue is the puggie on the far right!

Adopted - December, 2006

Prince Valiant (#103) is an approx. 8 year old, male pug.  He is so smart and LOVES to get treats! Prince will talk to you by barking and making other kinds of sounds. He gives kisses and follows his foster mom wherever she goes.  He likes to snuggle on the couch while she watches tv and would prefer to sleep in bed with his foster parents, but he sleeps in the laundry room with the other pugs.  He has no health problems.  He needs to wear a belly band in the house whenever he is not supervised.

Adopted - December, 2006

Charlotte (#161) is a very sweet little 4 year old girl. She likes kids, gets along with cats & dogs. She is housetrained and a wonderful little girl. The foster mom has not had any problems with this little sweetie since the day we picked her up. She is protective over our little pug, and loves to play with the other pugs & her toys. She is not food aggressive, however, she is kissing aggressive!!! She loves to give kisses!!

Adopted - December, 2006

Bosha's Pals for Pugs

The Lindsey Crew

Bosha (#123) is the pug-mix in the front of the photo.  She was taken to a shelter in Madisonville when her previous owner was put in a nursing home. Bosha is approximately 4 years old. Her mother is a pug (CC #122) and we guess that her dad could have been a beagle. Bosha definitely has part Beagle in her as she enjoys chasing anything that moves outside and loves to run. She would do better with a fenced in yard where she can run free, right now she is being taken outside on a leash and her foster mom is getting lots of exercise with her!

Adopted - December, 2006

CC's Pals for Pugs

The Lindsey Crew

CC (#122) is the pug in the back of the photo.  She was taken to a shelter in Madisonville when her previous owner was put in a nursing home.  CC is estimated to be over 10 years old, is sweet and kind, and just wants to be loved. CC is more of a cuddler and loves belly rubs and attention. She will require eye drops for the rest of her life since she does not produce tears and her eyes dry out. She is slightly blind, but that does not stop this little girl from getting around. CC is slightly older than her foster moms senior pugs, and she does circles around them, so do not let her age scare you. She is perfectly healthy and very active for a senior pug.

Adopted - December, 2006

Ruby (#252) is a 7-8 yr. old pug who comes to KPR from a shelter in Northwest Indiana. Ruby is micro chipped and spayed.  She came to KPR with a urinary tract infection and received treatment.  Ruby's foster homes says she loves to walk on her leash and she does good around young children (4yrs old) and all other animals including bigger dogs. She sleeps in her foster parents bed all night calmly. Ruby is very good about going out, but likes to be with you when she is out. She is a very loving pug that loves to be near everyone she comes across.

Adopted - December, 2006

Bernadette (#143) is a 19 pound, 6 year old black pug that has had many puppies. She is very well behaved and likes to sit around and lounge. Bernie has a slight limp on her back leg but the vet said all was well. She is timid around people, especially men, but gets along well with other dogs and is very good with kids.

Adopted - December, 2006

Patches (#243 F red harness) and Max (#244 M black collar) are a bonded brother and sister pair. These two came to KPR from a hospice situation. They are both about 20 lbs and smaller framed. Max is very friendly. Patches is more chilled out and does her own thing. These two are not far from each other ever! Both are friendly and happy and just want to be on your lap!!!

Adopted - December, 2006

Emma and Betsy are a bonded pair of young females that were surrendered by a breeder. They are both shy, but Besty warms up quickly, and although it does take Emma a lot longer, she will eventually come around. They are both housebroken, and they both love to play - they still have a lot of puppy in them! They are also both very sweet and love to cuddle up with their foster mom on the sofa, Emma especially loves to lie on a pillow!

Adopted - December, 2006

Ollie (#136) is a 6 year old puggie girl who loves to be with you. She was a "little" overweight when she came to KPR, but has lost some of those unwanted pounds.  She had to have surgery for an elongated soft palate and stenotic nares.  She also had to have two tumors removed.  Ollie barks a lot, mostly at her foster brothers and sister. She is great with kids and house broken. She is the best dog anyone could ask for.

Adopted - December, 2006

Oscar (#232) is a 5 year old 25 lb. male that was rescued from a shelter. He is a very sweet pug and looks forward to walks. He is crate trained, but would rather be out with the rest of the pugs. Oscar is housebroken and gets along great with other dogs. He is very affectionate and doesn’t want you out of his sight. He is being treated for allergies on his skin. He has pigmentary keratitis that is secondary to dry eye which will require daily drops in his eyes. He has lost some sight in his eyes but can see some things and gets along just fine.

Adopted - November, 2006

Rowdy (#102) weighs just 17 lbs and is full of puggy activity and kisses. He obeys commands and is crate trained, however he does love to snuggle in your bed!  He came to KPR with marking problems, but he has now been neutered and no longer marks and therefore does not need to wear a belly band.  Rowdy wants to sleep in bed with you. He is full of pug love and wants to be beside you everywhere you go.

Adopted - November, 2006

Baby Girl (#101) is a petite 14 lbs. and very quiet at first. She is the sweetest, gentlest soul.  She is fully house trained.  Baby Girl is shy and does not like to be picked up.  But, once she gets to know you, she sticks to you like glue.  She will not eat when other dogs are watching.  She barks and growls until they have left the room.  She has her quirks, but is full of love.

Adopted - November, 2006

Charlie (#229) is an owner surrender who had been an outside dog most of his life. He just turned two on June 29th. He came to the rescue Heartworm Positive. He took the treatments like a real champ.  He is in excellent health now.  Charlie LOVES his new life as an indoor dog. He absolutely adores to be petted and loved on!

Adopted - October, 2006

Tottie or Tata (#147) is a fawn female approximately 6 years old. She is a little lover and wants to be with you. She has spent her life as a breeder dog and is really enjoying knowing what a family and being loved unconditionally is all about. She's house trained, amazingly, she really lets you know when she's gotta go. She does great with other dogs and cats. She's kinda iffy about little kids.  She doesn't know the basic commands like, sit or stay.  Tottie just wants to be LOVED on, that's her only reasons in life is to be loved on. Tottie is a great family dog, she just wants all the love in the world.

Adopted - October, 2006

Below -
When Violet first came to KPR

Violet (#100) was apparently used as a breeder dog and when she could no longer make any money for her owner, was turned lose in a busy town on a cold day. Violet's age is unknown, but she is definitely a senior dog. She is blind, but does well finding her way around.  When Violet came to KPR she had heartworms. She went through Heartworm treatment. Violet also had breast tumors removed. She is a feisty little girl who is definitely an alpha and always wants to be part of the action. She is very sweet and loving and likes to snuggle in your lap like a baby. She soaks up all the attention she can get.

Franklin (#246) is just under 2 years old and is a complete lover boy. He came to KPR from a very loving situation. His owner, a nurse, was working so many hours a day and felt that Franklin wasn't getting the attention he deserved. Franklin is now getting all sorts of attention, especially from his new gal pal, Diva.

Adopted - October, 2006

Elliott (#146) is an adorable black male Pug. He is approx. 5 years old and 20 pounds. He gets along great with other pets, and loves children. He is extremely affectionate and loves the company of a family. Elliot was Heartworm Positive and was treated successfully.

Gracie (#160) was born with Demodex in April, 2005. She was originally surrendered to KPR last year and came to us with no hair. Gracie underwent treatments for Demodex and no longer has any problems with it. She was adopted by a very loving KPR family. Lily's Pals for Pugs

Lily Harper

Lily or Leah (#142) is an 8 year old female. She weighs approximately 14 pounds. She was used by a breeder, so she is loving all the attention she is getting in her foster home. Lily just wants to be close by you and follow you everywhere you go. Lily gets along great with other dogs, she is just so grateful for everything she has now.

Adopted - September, 2006

Max (#113) & Cleo (#112) came to KPR due to a divorce.  They will both turn 5 this year and are a bonded couple.  Cleo has the darker face.  Max is very laid back and sweet and likes to give kisses and Cleo is a very good girl.  They are crate trained and like to sleep in their crates at night with the doors open.  Sometimes they sleep in one crate together.  All & all very good puggies, both follow you everywhere & will give you all the love they can.

Adopted - September, 2006

Molly (#150) is a beautiful fawn female, 4 1/2 years old. Her best weight is about 14-15 pounds, but she is overweight right now (probably 17). Molly loves to sit on a lap and be loved. She can be quite the clown. She is good with other dogs and won't try to start a fight, but won't back down if someone starts something with her. She has squabbled a lot with the other female pug in her household, but she wasn't the one to start it. She is also fine with children. She needs a new home because her owner's family just had a premature baby, and can't give her all the love she needs. She has always been in a family home. She is housebroken, but is accustomed to having a doggie door.  She does also walk well on a leash.

Adopted - September, 2006

Kipper's Pals for Pugs

Diane & William Lindsey

Kipper (#125) is about 6 months old. She is the daughter of another KPR rescued pug, Bosha...and grandaughter of KPR CC. She is 1/4 pug.  Kipper gets along great with other dogs. She hasn't been exposed to children or cats during her foster care, but given her sweet personality, she will do great in a home with either. She will make a very good dog for an active family as she loves to play with toys and her foster dad.

Adopted - September, 2006

Amy (#220) is named after the KPR volunteer that saved her.  She is a 5 year old puggle that was rescued from a shelter in Indianapolis. Amy had been in the shelter for two months and her time was running out. She was part of a bonded pair and the shelter adopted out her litter mate without her. Amy was injured from a car accident and the shelter did not have the funds to make her better. Fearing permanent damage to her leg and the inevitable clock ticking, a KPR volunteer rescued her from the shelter. Another happy ending for a shelter dog that was lonely and hurting.

Adopted - September, 2006

Shorty  (#118) and Lucy (#117) are a bonded pair of Pugs. Shorty is a very handsome neutered male about 4 ½ years old and a very sweet and gentle fellow. He loves attention and affection, loves to play with and “nurse” on a fuzzy toy and most of all he loves Lucy. Lucy is a very petite, spayed female almost 2 years old. She too is very sweet and loves to play with Shorty. They both get along very well with other dogs and also with children but would prefer to sit in a lap soaking up lots of love.

Adopted - September, 2006

Rodney (previously Tuesday) (#238) is a lovable 2 year (age estimated) old male puggle that was pulled from a shelter in Central Indiana the day he was to be put down. We're not sure why he ended up at the shelter or why no one adopted him - he is a big cuddler and a big lover boy. He is definitely a people's dog, but likes other dogs as well.

Adopted - August, 2006

Willie (#226) had a long life with someone who decided they didn't want him any longer...we're not sure why - could be they couldn't afford his medical care any longer. We don't know Willie's exact age, but we do know that his is a senior (12+ years old). Willie is 'legally blind' - he has very little sight due to an old eye problem that was neglected.  He has arthritis and bad teeth. Willie had 10 teeth when we got him and had 5 really bad ones pulled. It was obvious his mouth was a source of pain for this sweet boy. Due to his lack of teeth his bottom jaw has started to deteriorate. This doesn't slow him down though!

Adopted - August, 2006

Otis (#139) is an approximately 2 year old, low key little boy that is also a bundle of energy. At the end of play time, he is ready for some lap time and he is so ready that you have to be careful not to sit on him! Otis loves to listen to Classical music, especially Handel's Hallelajah Chorus!! Otis needs to be fattened up a bit. He is neutered, UTD on his shots, heartworm negative and micro chipped.

Adopted - August, 2006

Walter (#221) and Sammy (#222) are two bonded 4 year old male pugs. Sammy is a little smaller than Walter, weighing 16 pounds and Walter weighs 20 pounds. These two come to KPR after their owner became disabled and could no longer care for them. They are great with the kids, no trouble there.

Adopted - August, 2006

Kipper's Pals for Pugs

Don and Claudette Snyder

Sam (#209) is a very sweet, 7 year old, black male pug. He loves to sit on laps, sleep, and get his chest scratched. Sam came from a loving home and would do best in a home with older children. He gets along very well with his foster brothers and likes to follow them around the house and snuggle with them on the couch. Sam is housebroken. Due to a previous skin condition he needs a medicated bath twice a month (overtime this may gradually be reduced).

Adopted - August, 2006

Roscoe is a spunky little 16 lb. male and is believed to be 2 years old. He came from a shelter that was going to put him down because it was full. They fortunately contacted KPR and he was rescued. He is allergic to fleas and has some skin issues. He is very playful, active, and loves to go for walks.

Adopted - August, 2006

Roscoe (#137) is a BIG boy weighing in at 40 pounds. He is on a strict prescription diet to get some of that weight off. He is only 3 years old and was surrendered by a very loving family that just didn't have the time to devote to him that they knew he needed. Roscoe is up to date on his shots, neutered, and housebroken. He is such a good boy. He does need to be fed in his crate (which he loves) because he does have a little bit of food aggression. He gets along great with other dogs and loves children. Roscoe is not a lap dog, but he does love to sit beside you while you are watching TV.

Adopted - August, 2006

Lumpy (#230) is a super sweet gorgeous 7 year old fella who came to KPR due to a back injury that his owner could not afford to correct.  He also had an ear infection that needed treated and a breast mass that had to be removed and was benign.  He does have mild hip dysplaysia, arthritis in one hip and a luxating patella.  No surgery is necessary for those conditions at this time.  Lumpy gets along great with dogs, cats and people of all ages. You couldn't ask for a better boy with a wonderful disposition.

Adopted - August, 2006

Lexie (#138) is a 14 pound chug (chihuahua/pug mix). She was turned in to the Humane Society. Lexie is happiest when she is in your lap, especially at night. She loves to play fetch and to chew bones (Nylabones are best because she pulls pieces from other types.) Lexie is very people oriented and gets along with other dogs, as long as she is the alpha. She is a "talker" and will let you know when she wants something. Lexie is approximately 2 years old, spayed, UTD on her shots, micro chipped and heartworm negative. Lexie is ready for her forever home.

Adopted - July, 2006

Sammy was surrendered to KPR because his owners didn’t have the time to care for him. He is one very sweet 5 year old male. He loves to be close to you and will jump up on your lap wherever you are sitting. He loves to play with toys and is very active. Sammy loves to go for walks. He is crate trained and will jump up on top of the crate if he isn’t in it! He is good with kids and other dogs as well as strangers. He does little barking unless he has something to say!

Adopted - July, 2006

Rufus, or Roo, (#141) is a 3 year old male pug whose mom was a fawn pug and his dad was a black pug.  He loves kids and plays well with his foster family's children.  Rufus gives kisses, loves having his belly rubbed and likes to sit on your lap.  He does not like table scraps, only dog food.  He will bark at men when he first meets them.  Once he gets to know them, he stops.  He is a very loving pug.

Adopted - July, 2006

Elvis (formerly known as Butch) (#128) is approximately 3 years old. He was rescued from being chained in a yard in Tennessee. A nice lady bought him from his previous owners and took him home. We found during his pre-neuter check up that he had heartworm and he was treated successfully.

Adopted - July, 2006

Ariel (#106) is a very sweet pug/shihtzu mix. She is very loving.  She likes to play with her sister and her foster pug brother. She sleeps all night in her crate. She is still warming up to the cat, which insists that she get a bath.

Adopted - July, 2006

Percy (#234), a 16 month old fawn male, was rescued by a kind family. His first family did not want him anymore because of a child's health issues, so Percy was left living in the garage with little human contact. Percy is now loving getting attention and loves other dogs and especially kids.

Adopted - July, 2006

Priscilla (4 years old) and Elvis (8-10) years old are a bonded pair who were surrendered because their owner died of cancer. Priscilla is a sweetheart who loves to play and LOVES to cuddle up right next to you, she has the most beautiful coat and face!!! Elvis just loves to be petted and loved on, and is a very distinguished older gentleman! Both are always right by their foster mom's side, and love to sit with her when she is watching TV and sleep with her at night. Both are in good general health, and are housebroken. Priscilla is having surgery the first week of June to open up her nostrils and trim down her elongated palate. They are both very loving and sweet, and get along well with other dogs and children. Elvis does have some food aggression, so he probably should not be placed in a home with very young children who would not know to leave him alone while he is eating . They are wonderful sweet little dogs who will make a wonderful addition to their new home!

Adopted - July, 2006

Kirby is a laid back kind of guy and wants to be close to you at all times. He managed to take a hold of his foster mom's heart and won't let go. His fur has grown back beautifully and his previous cough is practically non-existent. Good nutrition and lots of TLC has done this boy good.  Now if he can only teach his pug brothers and sisters to speak and turn around in circles when they need to go out too!

Adopted - July, 2006
